Bariatric Psychological Assessment
The evaluation includes an hour-long interview and completion of psychological assessments, done either virtually or in-person depending on your preference. We will talk through your goals and expectations for bariatric surgery. My aim is to guide and equip you with knowledge about the surgical and weight-loss process, support your mental and emotional well-being, and help you prepare for potential challenges along the way.
We explore areas such as mental health, eating patterns, emotional triggers, body image, and barriers that may affect your success. Together, we will identify meaningful behavior changes and create a personalized plan so you can move forward with clarity, strength, and confidence—supported with care, wisdom, and hope for the journey ahead.
A clearance letter for bariatric surgery is sent to the physician upon completion of the interview and all assessment materials.
Pre- and Post-Surgery Therapy
I also provide caring and effective pre- and post-surgery support via in-person or virtual therapy sessions. On a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis, I help you to identify current challenges, assist with problem-solving, and support your psychological and emotional needs as they arise. This is crucial as you prepare for/recover from surgery and adjust to your new reality.
Bariatric Services Cost
Insurance companies do often cover a portion, and sometimes all, of the interview and therapy session cost. Thoughtful and thoroughly written bariatric surgery clearance letters are sent to the surgeon for an additional $75 fee. Please reach out to me for more information!
